Associate Professor Xu Jiawei at the College of Computer and Artificial Intelligence published a paper in IEEE T-ITS

Release time: 2020-12-11

Xu Jiawei, Associate Professor of College of Computer and Artificial Intelligence published a paper titled “The Improvement of Road Driving Safety Guided by Visual Inattentional Blindness” in IEEE T-ITS as the first author.

By analyzing the visual attention blind spots of the subjects with different driving tasks under normal weather and different severe weather conditions (such as rain, fog, snow, etc.), a composite safe driving recommendation scheme is proposed. By analyzing the differences between high-speed sections and urban sections, driving comfort is further improved on the premise of safety.

The article first compares the pros and cons of the gaze points of the expert driver and the attention model in different driving environments. Secondly, by extracting the features between them, the neural network model is used to train and classify more reasonable gaze points. According to the classified gaze points, different driving tasks are proposed, followed by comfort improvement plans. Finally, safety and comfort are verified on benchmark public data sets, and the results prove the effectiveness of the method proposed in this paper. This work was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

IEEE T-ITS, with the full name of IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, is a top international journal in many fields such as artificial intelligence, intelligent transportation systems, traffic scenarios, and transportation technology. It is rated as first-class by the Chinese Academy of Sciences with Impact Factor in 2020 reaching 6.319. It is also ranked No. 1 regarding Automotive Engineering in the JCR, and one of the top journals in the field of engineering technology.
