Shen Qingkai, a postgraduate student published a cover paper in the international journal of metal materials
A research paper titled "Fabrication of bulk Al-Co-Cr-Fe-Ni high-entropy alloy using combined cable wire arc additive manufacturing (CCW-AAM): Microstructure and mechanical properties” completed by Shen Qingkai, a postgraduate student of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and other students under the guidance of Professor Chen Xizhang was published in Journal of Materials Science & Technology (IF=6.155) and selected as the cover paper.
This paper proposes a method of using a new type of stranded wire for high-entropy alloy arc additive manufacturing, which provides a high-efficiency, high-quality and promising manufacturing method for the manufacture of large-size and complex-shaped high-entropy alloy materials and products. The Al-Co-Cr-Fe-Ni high-entropy alloy achieves an excellent combination of strength of 2.8GPa and plasticity of 42%. With this method, a series of results have been published in other journals of engineering technology such as JOURNAL OF ALLOYS AND COMPOUNDS, MATERIALS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING A.
Shen Qingkai is able to focus on the urgent needs, use mechanical engineering methods to solve the key problems of arc additive manufacturing, and obtain satisfactory research results, which fully reflects the uniqueness of mechanical engineering in solving interdisciplinary problems.
